Associated Antique Dealers of NJ

A NON-PROFIT PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATION

THE ASSOCIATED ANTIQUE DEALERS OF NEW JERSEY regards the antiques business as a profession and views the antiques dealer as a professional.  A person engaged in the antiques business is knowledgeable, experienced and can be relied upon as one who takes pride in his profession and strives to increase his knowledge of antiques.

Wouldn’t you like to join?   We welcome dealers who have a passion for antiques and are willing to contribute their efforts and share their expertise of antiques.  Please read our yellow flyer to read about our history and to see our current membership list.

AADNJ is a mutually-working association and functions as a united effort of its members.  It is actively engaged in curbing unethical practices and promotes the dignity of the antiques profession.

We have 4-6 business meetings per year, usually on the 4th Monday of a month.  We meet in the Morris County Library’s large public meeting room from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Our meetings begin with some socializing and information sharing– a period we nicknamed “Show & Tell”.  Members are encouraged to bring one or two antiques or other useful antique related information.   Usually a member gives a short lecture in their field of expertise before the start of the business meeting.

The Associated Antique Dealers of New Jersey was established in 1962 by four antique dealers at the home of Sophie and Ed Poppele. This small group of dealers recognized the need to create an alliance of dealers totally dedicated to the well being of the antiques profession.

The non-profit organization was incorporated in 1964. Our purpose is to educate and promote public understanding and appreciation of antiques, and to be a credible organization reflecting the high standards and honest representation of antiques.

Members offer appraisal services and lectures to groups. Our shows support the AADNJ Educational Outreach Program for New Jersey Teachers as well as our lecture programs.

Our first antique show was held in April 1965 at the Governor Morris Inn, Morristown NJ. At this time the Eagle Head Logo was trademarked and adopted. This symbol represents the integrity of the organization.

In 1990, the annual show was moved to the Mennen Arena in Morris Township. We relocated in 2004 to the Morristown Armory.

In 2008 we return to the expanded and improved William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township, NJ.

The AADNJ continues to present highly respected shows in NJ. presenting a wide variety of quality antiques. We have items for both new and seasoned collectors in all price ranges.

AADNJ members are actively involved in the purchase, sale and study of antiques. We have established ourselves as reputable dealers who are committed to preserving the integrity of our profession.
